Allianz Electric Motor Protect is a car insurance plan offered by Allianz Insurance Singapore designed specifically for electric vehicles (EVs). It offers three coverage options: Comprehensive, Third Party, Fire and Theft, and Third Party Only.
The Comprehensive plan provides the highest level of protection, covering your EV against accidents, theft, and damage when driving in Singapore, West Malaysia, and up to 80km into Thailand. It also includes EV-specific benefits alongside standard features like lifetime guarantee on accident repairs, 24-month new-for-old car replacement, courtesy car, and 24/7 roadside assistance.
Yes. You can purchase Allianz Electric Motor Protect as long as your electric vehicle is legally registered in Singapore under the Singapore Road Traffic Act. This applies to Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents, and foreigners with valid driving licenses.
Yes. Your EV's battery is covered as part of the vehicle under Allianz Electric Motor Protect. If your battery is damaged in an accident, the cost of repair or replacement is covered under your policy, subject to the terms and conditions.
For battery degradation due to normal wear and tear, this is typically covered under your vehicle manufacturer's warranty rather than your motor insurance policy.
Yes. Allianz Electric Motor Protect covers fire damage to your electric vehicle, including incidents that occur while charging. If your EV is damaged by fire—whether at home, at a public charging station, or elsewhere—you can make a claim under your policy.
As with all claims, you should report the incident to the authorities and Allianz as soon as possible, and provide any relevant documentation or evidence.
If your EV runs out of battery charge and cannot be driven, you can call Allianz Roadside Assistance at +65 6222 1919. Allianz will arrange for your vehicle to be towed to the nearest charging station or an authorised workshop.
Towing costs are covered up to S$500 for private cars. This service is available 24/7, including weekends and public holidays.
Yes. Your Allianz Electric Motor Protect policy covers you in:
- Singapore
- West Malaysia
- Up to 80km from the border between West Malaysia and Thailand
If you have an accident overseas, exchange details with all parties, take photos, file a local police report if anyone is injured, and report to an Allianz authorised workshop within 24 hours of returning to Singapore.
Note for EV drivers: Plan your charging stops carefully when driving to Malaysia, as EV charging infrastructure may be limited in some areas.
If your electric vehicle is damaged beyond repair within the first 24 months of its first registration in Singapore, Allianz will:
- Replace it with a new EV of the same make, model, and specifications, OR
- If the same model is unavailable, replace it with a similar new EV, OR
- Pay you the cash equivalent
This benefit is especially valuable for EV owners, as electric vehicles can have higher replacement costs than traditional cars.
NCD (No Claim Discount) is a discount on your premium that increases each year you don't make a claim—up to 50% off. If you make a claim, your NCD will be reduced by 30%.
To protect your NCD, you can purchase an NCD Protector add-on, which allows you to make a claim without losing your discount. This add on is available to policyholders with an NCD of 30% or higher.
Your NCD can also be transferred when switching to Allianz Electric Motor Protect from another insurer, provided you have been claim-free for the past 3 years. You may also transfer your NCD to your spouse when they purchase a new policy — this is a one-time, non-reversible transfer, and your own NCD will reset to 0%.
If you're involved in an accident:
- Ensure safety first– If safe to do so, turn off your vehicle. For EVs, be aware of any unusual smells, smoke, or sounds from the battery
- Check for injuries – Call 999 (police) or 995 (ambulance) if anyone is hurt
- Exchange details– Get the other driver's name, NRIC, phone number, insurer, and vehicle number
- Take photos– Capture damage to all vehicles, license plates, and the accident scene before moving vehicles
- Submit dashcam footage – If you have an in-car camera, save the video
- Report within 24 hours – Bring your vehicle to an Allianz authorised workshop within 24 hours or the next working day
- Can't drive? – Call Allianz Roadside Assistance at +65 6222 1919 for towing (covered up to S$500)
Important for EV owners: Do not attempt to charge your vehicle if it has been in an accident until it has been inspected by a qualified technician.
To make a claim:
- Report the accident – Visit an Allianz authorised workshop within 24 hours or the next working day
- Bring your documents – Policy details, driving license, photos of damage, and dashcam footage if available
- For overseas accidents – File a police report locally, then report to Allianz upon returning to Singapore
