An electric vehicle is powered (either fully or partially) by electricity, unlike a conventional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) car1

Modern-day EVs are of three types: Battery EVs (BEVs), plug-in hybrid EVs (PHEVs) and hybrid EVs (HEVs). Also called all-electric vehicles, BEVs rely solely on battery power while PHEVs and HEVs use both electric power and conventional combustion engines. BEVs are the most common EVs, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the 5 million electric cars on the road in 20182

The emissions of an electric car are estimated to be 17-30 percent lower than those of petrol and diesel cars3
With fewer moving parts than a petrol car, EVs also save costs with their optimal energy conversion capacity.
In addition to not requiring petrol, EVs are up to three times more efficient at energy conversion than conventional cars4  .

The first electric vehicle introduced in Singapore was the BMW i3 back in 2014.

Since then, the EV scene has expanded rapidly here and now offers a wide range of models at different price points.

Under Singapore's Green Plan 2030 (SGP30)9 ,  the country aims to phase outInternal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles and
have all vehicles run on cleaner energy by 2040.

In line with this vision, Allianz Insurance Singapore is committed to supporting electric vehicles with our dedicated and comprehensive
Allianz Electric Motor Protect - an insurance plan designed to cover, specifically, the components and accessories of electric vehicles.
