March 10, 2026
On February 28th, 2026, the USA and Israel launched strategic missile attacks on political and military sites in Iran. This was met with retaliatory strikes by Iran targeting Israel and USA bases across the region, including Israel, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and UAE.
At Allianz Insurance Singapore, the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and business partners remain our top priority. As the situation in Iran and the surrounding region continues to escalate, we sincerely hope that you and your traveling companions are safe and unaffected by the ongoing unrest.
We are committed to supporting those affected by the current unrest and providing guidance regarding assistance and insurance coverage. Please find important information below for customers with upcoming travel plans or those currently in affected areas.
Please note that the policies listed below contain a general exclusion relating to war or acts of war, whether declared or not. As such, coverage on our policies will be limited, as this exclusion will apply in most circumstances.
- Allianz Travel Protect
- Allianz Trip Protect
- Singapore Airlines Travel Protect
- SriLankan Airlines Travel Protect
For Customers Due to Travel
Several countries in the region have partially or fully closed their airspace, leading to significant disruptions to international flights. Travelers may experience cancellations, diversions, or extended delays.
If your travel plans, including transit flights via the Middle East, are cancelled or interrupted due to the conflict, this falls under the policy’s general exclusion for war or acts of war. Your travel insurance coverage will not apply in these circumstances.
We strongly advise customers affected by cancellations or rerouting to contact their airline or travel supplier directly, as they may provide refunds, rebooking options, or alternative travel arrangements.
If you decide not to travel or to cancel your trip voluntarily (not due to travel operator or airline cancellations), your travel insurance policy will also not cover costs incurred. This is because voluntary cancellation related to the conflict would fall under the policy’s general exclusion for war or acts of war.
For Customers Already Travelling in Affected Areas
If you are already traveling in affected areas, we understand the challenges you may be facing. Please note the following:
- Medical Assistance: Medical assistance remains available for unforeseen medical issues or accidents. Please refer to the contact details provided in your travel insurance policy for any medical assistance needs during this time.
- Follow Local Advice: We recommend that you follow the advice issued by your local government or foreign office and monitor local media reports for updates on the situation.
- Shortening Your Trip: If you decide to return home early because of the conflict, your travel insurance coverage will not apply as the policy’s general exclusion for war or acts of war is triggered. We strongly advise for you to contact your airline or travel operator as they may provide accommodation or assistance until you are able to travel.
- Extended Coverage: If you are already in the affected area and your travel plans have been disrupted, your travel insurance coverage as indicated in your policy will be extended at no extra cost until it is reasonably practical for you to safely return home. Please take note that we will not be covering events caused by war or acts of war. We advise you to carefully review your Policy Wording for details on the applicable coverage, such as medical assistance, lost luggage, and other benefits.
Refunds and Policy Cancellations
If your trip has been cancelled due to the current situation, please note that Single Trip policy premiums are not refundable once the cooling‑off period has passed. For customers on Annual Multi‑Trip policies who wish to cancel their policy, please refer to the Policy Wording for details on pro‑rata refund applicability.
Our teams are committed to providing the highest level of support during these challenging times. As the situation evolves quickly, we are closely monitoring developments and working with experts in the affected regions to ensure we can respond effectively to any changes and keep you informed.
