Work Injury Compensation

With effect from 1st April 2008, the Workmen's Compensation Act (WCA) is replaced by Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA).

Work Injury Compensation insurance provide cover for Employers against their liability arising under the Act as well as protecting the employers against any legal liability arising from claims by their employees at Common Law.

The WICA applies to all employees regardless of their level of earnings. It is not compulsory to cover those employees in non-manual work, earning more than S$1,600 per month. Employers are, however, still required to pay compensation in the event of a valid claim under the Act.

The maximum and minimum compensation benefits provided under the WICA are as follows

  Minimum Maximum
Death S$47,000 S$140,000

Permanent Incapacity(PI)

S$60,000 S$180,000

WICA will affect all Work Injury Compensation insurance i.e. Annual and Project related policies and relevant sections of package policies.
