REPORTING ALL ACCIDENTS TO GIA WITHIN 24HR OF ANY ACCIDENT

Dear Allianz Motor Policyholders,

The General Insurance Association (GIA) Motor Claims Framework effective June 1 2008 requires all insured drivers to inform their insurer within 24 hours or the next working day following a traffic accident. Notification is by the submission of a GIA Accident Report - this is now standardised within Singapore across all insurers. It is for this purpose and for the convenience of our Policyholders that Allianz has an arrangement with our key partners, MARS and Crawford, to offer you a streamlined accident reporting and crash repair process.

Instead of requiring you to drive your damaged vehicle to a Reporting Centre or to an Authorized Workshop to e-file the Accident Report, all you need to do is to call our 24 hour Helpline (6333 2222). Our Mobile Accident Response Service (MARS) will then be activated, and an officer will be despatched to the scene of accident within about 20 minutes to render on-site assistance, including arrangements for towing.

The main role of the MARS Officer is to take photographic evidence of the damage sustained to your vehicle and to any Third Party Vehicle(s), and to assist you to complete the GIA Accident Report. The duly completed and signed Report can then be accepted as notification for the purpose of accident reporting on the understanding that:

  • Your call to MARS is immediate following an accident, and you are still at the scene.
  • The MARS Officer is able to take pictures of your vehicle and any Third Party vehicle(s) involved. If the Third Party vehicle(s) has / have left the scene before arrival of MARS officer, contact details and particulars of the Third Party driver(s) are available so that we may contact the Third Party driver(s).
  • If someone was injured, the injured party's contact details are shared with the MARS Officer.

Otherwise, the phone call alone and / or the completion of the Accident Report will not be accepted as notification for the purpose of accident reporting, and thus the 24 hours accident reporting requirement under your policy may be in breach.

For your convenience, MARS will automatically forward a copy of the completed GIA Accident Report form to Crawford, our chosen partner for vehicle surveys, to enable them to follow through on the damage assessment of your vehicle for a seamless insurance claim.

We have put in place these arrangements to provide both convenience and peace of mind. We will do our utmost to ensure that the claims process is managed smoothly with minimum hassle to you.

Thank you for insuring with Allianz.
