Do's and Don'ts of Motor Accident


Remember to report any motor accident to MARS at 6333 2222 as there is a NCD penalty if accident is not reported within 24 hours from the time of accident, and your claim / indemnity under the policy may be prejudiced as a result.

 

Below is a useful guide as to what to do if you have a motor accident:

Do stay calm, park the vehicle in a safe position and location, and exit the vehicle safely.

 

Do not admit liability or responsibility to any one, verbally or in writing.

Do check to see if any one is injured and if so, call 999 for the police to summon medical assistance and ambulance.

 

Do not fall prey to touts and strangers who may offer help at the scene.

Do call MARS at 6333 2222 from the scene of accident for Allianz' Mobile Accident Response Service and the One-Stop Reporting Service, or within 24 hours from the time of accident to report the accident.

 

Do not allow your damaged and immobilized vehicle to be towed away by unfamiliar tow truck.

Do exchange vehicle and driver particulars as follows whilst waiting for MARS officer to arrive in about 20 minutes:

 

Registration number of all vehicles involved in the accident (including color, make, and model if you can identify).

 

Driver's name, and mobile number of all vehicles involved,Insurance company of the vehicles involved.

 

If a camera is on hand, take pictures of the position and damage condition of the vehicles involved.

 

Do not accept any offer of repair and claim services by workshop not on Aliianz list of authorized workshops.

Do co-operate with MARS officer at the scene and provide him with all the factual information and details so that your accident report may be filed accurately and timely.

 

Do not accept any promises of waiver of Excess, and / or offer of free use of a courtesy car.

Do provide MARS officer with the photographs you have just taken of the vehicles involved.

 

Do not accept lawyer services arranged by workshop.

Do accept MARS officer recommendation of a repair workshop from Allianz list of authorized workshops.

 

Do not attempt to sort out who was at fault with the Third Parties at the scene.

Do proceed to the selected authorized workshop soonest possible so that the workshop may arrange for damage survey and repair cost assessment before repairs are effected.

 

Do not sign on any papers presented to you by any one without reading and understanding it especially on the fine prints.
Do allow Allianz authorized workshop to assist you in claiming against the responsible Third Party if you were not at fault.

Do not delay in reporting the accident to MARS at 6333 2222 as there is a NCD penalty if accident is not reported within 24 hours from the time of accident, and your claim / indemnity under the policy may be prejudiced as a result.

 

Do allow Allianz authorized workshop sufficient time to carry out a good repair work.

 

Do check your repaired vehicle when collecting from Allianz authorized workshop.

 

Do sign the Discharge Voucher presented by the workshop signifying your satisfaction and acceptance of the repairs carried out.

 

Do pay Allianz authorized workshop the applicable policy Excess, and Allianz will pay the balance to the authorized workshop as surveyed and assessed by the surveyor.

 

Do allow Allianz authorized workshop time to assist you in a protracted claim against the responsible Third Party;  do call the workshop directly if you need an update.
